My last week in Tunisia was a mix of emotions. On one hand, I was happy to be returning home. I missed my boyfriend, and I wanted a hamburger. On the other hand, I was going to miss my dad and sister, and Tunisia. I hadn't taken advantage of all that Tunisia had to offer, and I was running out of time. But there's only so much one can fit into a two-week vacation.
On my last Saturday in Tunis, May 25, 2013, Dad took us to Yasmine Hammamet, about an hour's drive from the city. Developed in 1990s, Yasmine Hammamet is a breathtaking seaside resort situated south-west of the town of Hammamet. I tell the stories of our amazing day in day the Tunisian sun in the pictures below.
| La Medina Yasmine Hammamet has souvenir shops, regular stores, restaurants and other small tourist trap stores. We enjoyed a quick stroll through before heading out to explore the rest of the resort. |
| We enjoyed a carriage ride. It was my first time being in one. Funny, how I had to go all the way to Tunisia to experience what I could have very easily experienced in New York City. |
| My sister. |
| There's a train that you can hope on and off as a means of transportation around the resort. It came in handy when we were tired and just needed to relax our feet, and allowed us to see places we probably wouldn't have seen otherwise if we really had to walk. |

One of the 4-star hotels at the resort.

After a brief tour of the mainland, we headed to the marina and Port Hammamet. In this picture, we were probably discussing the lack of development in Ghana, compared to Tunisia. It's all we seemed to talk about. The contrasts in development were stark when I visited in 2013, and seeing the disparities between the two African countries was heartbreaking, to say the least.

The marina. It was such a beautiful day. Clear skies, bright sun, and a cool breeze.
We were able to get on the pirate ship at Port Yasmine Hammamet. It was a wonderful experience. The boat is available for tours and excursions, but we only did a brief tour before heading to the beach.
After a day of touring, strolling, and carriage and train rides, we finally headed to the beach for lunch and camel rides. Dad was the only brave one to get on the camel.

I had a Tunisian salad for lunch. Again, they didn't have hamburgers!!! Urgh!!! (If you're confused about my mention of hamburgers or lack thereof, read Fun in the Tunisian Sun.) By this time, I was ready to go back to the US. What country doesn't have a McDonald's?! Lol. I would find out a week after getting back home to the US that I was pregnant. It was my first pregnancy, which I later lost in a miscarriage a few weeks later. I was utterly devastated!

| This picture says it all! As it turns out, I have other fears that have nothing to do with creepy crawly or buzzy things. We can add camels to that list! |
When I count my top vacations, I count my trip to Tunisia in the top 3. I had an absolutely amazing time, plus it was not a financially stressful trip because my father sponsored the entire trip. From airline tickets to accommodations, food, and sightseeing trips, he paid for them all. The only expense I had was when I went shopping with my sister or out to eat without my dad accompanying us.
I hope you enjoyed the recap of my Tunisia vacation. What foreign countries have you vacationed in or do you hope to vacation in? Please share below.
Beautiful and thanxs for sharing the experience with us. Looks amazing.
